10 Year Anniversary

Week commencing 20th April marks the 10 Year Anniversary of M & J Abbs.

It has been a bit more of a muted celebration than we intended but we would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their support during this time.

Please see below, some highlights and flashbacks from over the years as well as some value customer feedback.

Our founder, Martin Abbs, has spent 45 years in the trade. To mark his valued expertise and 10 years of M & J Abbs, we are looking back at notable moments of the company so far.

Pictured here is a ‘Thank You’ note addrressed to Martin and signed personally by the British singer and Cambridgeshire local, Dina Carroll.

Also featured, is one of Martin’s payslips from 1975 when he started out.

In 1978, Martin received a personal ‘Thank You’ note from Ronnie Barker after Martin had installed his mother’s central heating. And yes, the caption reads “to Martin Abbs, Thanks for putting the heat on my mother” :)

A few years later, Martin went on to install the central heating for Ronnie himself  - a pretty assured recommendation if you don’t mind us saying so.

Above is a flashback photo we found of Martin and Jonny Abbs that some of our most loyal customers my recognise :).  This was taken around the time Jonny joined Martin as an apprentice, and we’re very happy that they continue to work so closely together.

‘Our Victorian house, built in 1850 with solid brick walls was very difficult to keep warm, so in the early 2000s, we looked into the possibility of a Rayburn.  We approached Mr Abbs (Martin) who advised on the possibility, and then in 2002 carried out the installation of our 480AG into our awkward house and pre-existing fireplace! It has been a triumph providing central heating, hot water, drying the washing and generally keeping a very cold house warm in winter.  The cooker has a temperature control independent of the main boiler and is very versatile.  Your team, which is organised, knowledgeable and efficient has serviced our 480AG annually since the installation’. - Mr & Mrs C, Cambridge.
